Oldtimer meeting in kulmbach: despite age, the paint is not off

Oldtimer meeting in kulmbach: despite age, the paint is not off

Yesterday, precious automobiles from times long past populated the monchshof grounds in the blaich. The sweaty temperatures of the past days had taken a break. The weather for a breather attracted thousands of visitors from near and far to stroll along the "classic car promenades.

The drivers, on the other hand, had made themselves a little scarcer at the 23. Oldtimer meeting. Chairman walter schaller of the oldtimer stammtisch kulmbach (OSK) had a plausible explanation for this: "in the unstable weather, many people preferred to leave their high-quality vehicles in the garage. Classic cars are already weathered vehicles."

A ford of 91 years

He estimated the number of cars at 500. Among the oldest vehicles at the meeting was the ford type A, which peter pflug and his wife martina from markkleeberg near leipzig call their own.

"It has 91 years under its belt and is the successor to the legendary ford T, the first car to be produced on a production line", the 76-year-old paid expertly.

Pflug has already received 60 trophies and certificates for his car. He is proud when people applaud him as he drives by.

Rudolf mzyk from hollfeld has fallen for a completely different type of car. He is passionate about driving the brand lloy, which was built by the company borgwart from bremen. His lloyd LT500 from 1955 has a mere 13 horsepower. Many others would make a wide berth around such a vehicle – not so the hollfelder. "The minibus with its six seats is an ideal vehicle for slowing down and enjoying the countryside at a speed of 70 kilometers."

With a treasure on two wheels dirk blaurock from ilmenau joins the oldtimer friends. The motorcycle that makes him happy dates back to the second world war – a zundapp KS750 from 1944. "It was an agile and fast transport and reporting vehicle for all types of roads and land", the 49-year-old thuringian gushed about his vehicle.

The cadilacs, chevrolets and dodges in ubergrobe gave off a whiff of american car culture. And in the middle of it all: a south carolina police car.

It didn’t belong to a sheriff, but to markus rittmann from redwitz. "Like so many teenagers, i was fascinated by the police cars from the american crime series."

Rifle mount

When his job took him across the pond, he jumped at the chance and bought one of these rides. The man from redwitz proudly showed off his "mission" in kulmbach the reinforced body, the radio and the rifle mount in the trunk.

"In the car it’s like sitting on a sofa", the young man swarmed. He uses the car with its 182 hp to decelerate. "I’m not going on a manhunt with it", the owner said.

The next oldtimer event already casts its shadows ahead. On 18. July marks the 25th anniversary of the classic car club on the monchshof site. "In the framework of the birthday celebration, which begins at 5 p.M., will be seen schnauferl from the surrounding area", promises schaller.
